Broadway Stores Lays Off Managers: Broadway Stores Inc. said it is laying off 70 managers of various merchandise departments at its 83 Broadway, Emporium and Weinstocks stores. The Los Angeles-based retailer said those affected--some of the supervisors of department sales associates--have already been notified. The company said the job reduction is part of a realignment designed to improve customer service and meet the needs of individual stores.
