SANTA CLARITA — A Valencia woman died Thursday night after driving her Jeep into a semitrailer truck parked on a city street, authorities said.
Delana Knudson, 35, was driving her vehicle west on Lyons Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. when she hit the truck in front of Old Orchard Park, said Deputy Mark Slater of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. He said no skid marks were left by the Jeep, indicating that Knudson may have not seen the truck.
“One witness said he didn’t see any brake lights,” Slater added. He said another witness, however, claimed Knudson may have braked just before the impact.
Slater said he does not know how fast Knudson was driving, but she apparently was not speeding.
It took firefighters about 45 minutes to remove Knudson from the Jeep, Slater said. She was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where she was pronounced dead a short time after arrival.
