OXNARD : Teen-Ager Killed When Car Hits Pole

An Oxnard youth was killed shortly before dawn Saturday when his car crashed at high speed into a telephone pole on 5th Street near Pleasant Valley Road in Oxnard.
Angel Castanan, 16, was eastbound on 5th Street when he lost control of his vehicle about 5 a.m., police said. Castanan’s car crossed over the center line and drove into the westbound lane before heading onto the north shoulder, where it struck a pole, according to police.
“It was a real mess,” said Cmdr. Bob Elder of the Oxnard Police Department, who saw the wreck while on his way to work.
