Desperate Rescue: The Cathy Malone Story (NBC Sunday at 9 p.m.) is a tense, fact-based 1993 TV drama starring Mariel Hemingway in the title role as as a Texas divorcee who hires commandos to pluck her daughter out of Jordan, where she had been taken by her Jordanian ex-husband.

Wife, Mother, Murderer (ABC Sunday at 9 p.m.) stars a highly watchable Judith Light as real-life Alabama man-killer Marie Hilley; a 1991 TV movie.

The over-inflated 1994 TV movie Tears and Laughter: The Joan and Melissa Rivers Story (NBC Monday at 9 p.m.) unfortunately offers little beyond the novelty of seeing these two women playing themselves in a re-enactment of the grief and turmoil that gripped their lives after the 1987 suicide of their husband and father, Edgar Rosenberg.

In the 1987 The Untouchables (KCOP Friday at 8 p.m.), director Brian De Palma and writer David Mamet restage the Chicago Prohibition-era liquor wars as a modern Western. We have the straight-arrow G-Man (Kevin Costner as Eliot Ness), the flamboyant thug (Robert DeNiro as Al Capone) and the streetwise Chicago-Irish cop (Sean Connery as the swing man).
