NORTH HOLLYWOOD — A 25-year-old man died Tuesday after friends found him floating face down in the swimming pool of a North Hollywood apartment complex, Los Angeles police said.
It was unclear how the man died, but police said that he reportedly had been drinking and that an empty bottle of alcohol was found near the pool, part of a complex in the 12000 block of Albers Street. The man’s name was not released.
“He was swimming with friends or acquaintances that knew him,” Lt. Don Hooper said. “They went away for a while, approximately 10 minutes. When they returned, they found him face down, floating in the pool.”
The man was discovered in the pool about 4:50 p.m. Tuesday and was taken in extremely critical condition to North Hollywood Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
