Doggone Diets

Many thanks for the wonderful and refreshing feature on pet food (“Dinner’s Gone to the Dogs” June 22). My ailing dog appreciates it, too. As for your readers who think Fido is happy eating out of a garbage can--HAVE A HEART! Animals bring so much joy to their owners and deserve the best. --GLENDA GALVAN Los Angeles
Edon’s dog biscuits sound delicious and far more tasty than the ones I tried many years ago when I was 4 years old. My mother found me nibbling on our Boston Terrier’s milk bone biscuits; as I recall, they were very dry. --PAULINE NELSON COWLE Pacific Palisades
You must have gotten TONS of mail on this one! “FISHY” and “BEEF” flavor water sounds disgusting . . . especially after the pets have filled up on beef and fish for dinner! But the whole idea (must be a joke!) of bottling water for animals who really prefer the nice, freshly flushed water of the toilets in their homes is the ultimate gag! Better bottle the “toilet water” and there will be millions of satisfied customers. --JANET SALTER Beverly Hills
Was it just me, or did other people find the inclusion of pet food recipes DIRECTLY alongside human food recipes a bit disconcerting? It certainly took away my appetite and even made my stomach a bit queasy. Thursday mornings are my favorite of the week, when I usually make the time to linger a little longer than usual with the paper, specifically because of the Food Section, so this was quite a shock to my system. --JOANNE KESTEN Glendale
