Unocal to Revamp, Add Gas Stations: Unocal Corp. told Wall Street analysts that it will spend $250 million over the next three years to improve existing service stations in an effort to double pretax cash flow from the Los Angeles-based oil company’s refining and marketing units. Meanwhile, Unocal and Circle K Corp., of Phoenix, have signed a letter of intent to add Unocal gasoline pumps at 425 Circle K convenience stores in Arizona and Nevada, expanding by almost five times the Unocal-brand outlets in the region. Final agreement is expected by the end of the year. The move intensifies Unocal’s efforts to market gasoline in tandem with convenience store products. Both companies indicated that if the arrangement works, it could be expanded to other states.
