Travelers Group Inc. said its second-quarter earnings rose 26%, fueled by a rebound in the company’s brokerage unit and improvements in insurance businesses.
Travelers earned $405.9 million, or $1.22 a share, compared to $320.5 million, or 93 cents a share in the 1994 second quarter. Revenue was $4.5 billion, down from $4.6 billion a year ago.
Consumer finance businesses had operating earnings of $60.3 million, up 10%.
