GARDEN GROVE : City Offers Variety of Summer Classes

With subjects ranging from magic to scuba diving, the city is offering a series of summer classes for all ages.
The classes, which charge a small fee, are not restricted to Garden Grove residents.
One-day workshops on creating photo albums will teach how to preserve and display family photos without using chemically treated materials. The workshop will be July 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Haven Park, 12252 West St., and July 29 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at H. Louis Lake Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. The cost is $15, plus $2 for supplies.
A four-week workshop on “table top” magic will show youngsters and adults how to do tricks. Classes begin Aug. 7 at 4 p.m. for children 10 to 12 years old and at 5 p.m. for adults and children 13 and older. The class, at H. Louis Lake Center, costs $25, plus $6 for supplies.
For scuba-diving lessons and certification, an orientation class will be held Aug. 1 and Sept. 5, both from 7 to 9 p.m. at Coral Reef Dive and Surf Center, 14161 Beach Blvd. Pool and ocean dives will follow. The course costs $99.
Dog owners can learn to train their pets to guard their homes at a class July 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Courtyard Center, 12732 Main St. The fee is $15 for preregistered students or $20 at the door. The class will be for owners only, without dogs present.
