Baby Dies After Dog Mauling

A 5-month-old Oak Park girl died Monday after being mauled by her family’s pit bull, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.
The baby’s mother heard the girl crying at 11 a.m. and found that the dog had bitten the baby repeatedly in the head and leg, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
The baby was rushed to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where she underwent surgery. She died at 5:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department said.
Animal control workers removed the dog from the residence on Oak Bend Lane.
The child’s name was not released.
