It’s Your Life / People, Places and Things to do. : FOOD FOR THOUGHT : Psychics, Serenades and Sicilian Cooking

Thousand Oaks’ new Cafe Bellissimo is the only restaurant in Ventura County serving authentic arancini with psychic readings.
Cafe Bellissimo provides a smorgasbord of entertainment with its Italian fare. Patrons can indulge in $10 psychic impressions by Paula, balloon sculpting and handwriting analysis.
While eating arancini , a Sicilian rice ball appetizer, diners are often serenaded by singing servers, guitarists and “Godfather”-inspired accordion playing. A Marilyn Monroe show, musical moments from “Phantom of the Opera” and sing-alongs round out the fun.
Tony Bellissimo and his son, Anthony, opened the restaurant two months ago as an encore to their Woodland Hills outlet. Like the original, the new spot showcases the recipes and the cooking of Sara Bellissimo, Tony’s 70-something mother.
Manager and nephew Luigi Bordonaro can’t say Sicilians are particularly superstitious, but “Uncle Tony’s into the surreal. And it does real well at our restaurants.”
