THOUSAND OAKS : Cal Lutheran Names New Administrators

Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks has named new administrators at the School of Education and the department of athletics.
Carol A. Bartell will take over as dean of the School of Education on Aug. 21. She succeeds Paul McArdle, who is stepping down to teach and write.
Bartell comes to Cal Lutheran from the state Commission on Teacher Credentialing, where she worked as a consultant for program evaluation and research. She also has held tenured faculty positions at the University of Iowa and the University of the Pacific.
Cal Lutheran officials also have announced a new director of athletics, Bruce Bryde, who comes to the university from Widener University in Chester, Pa., where he served as associate director of athletics.
Before his stint at Widener, Bryde worked in the promotions and public relations department of the National Basketball Assn.’s Philadelphia 76ers. He succeeds Bob Doering, who stepped down in 1994.
