Six to Lose Their Jobs in Disneyland Shake-Up of Publicity Department

ANAHEIM — Disneyland has launched a management overhaul of its publicity department, it was learned this week.
Six publicists have been told that they will lose their jobs in six weeks, but can reapply for their open positions, sources said.
Publicity Director Tom Brocato, a veteran press agent who came to the park several months ago, had no comment on the move. Likewise, Disneyland President Paul Pressler said he does not comment on internal matters.
The publicity department handles press inquiries and orchestrates the lavish broadcast-oriented events aimed at attracting attention to new rides, attractions or events at the park. Last week, for instance, the department coordinated the celebration of the theme park’s 40th anniversary.
