A Monterey Park man was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted murder Wednesday for killing his apartment manager and shooting her twin sister, the assistant manager, in the head.
Cesar Joseph Flores Valdovinos, 39, faces up to two life terms when he is sentenced Aug. 24 in Los Angeles Superior Court, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Eloise Phillips.
The Los Angeles Superior Court jury also convicted Valdovinos on a charge of using a firearm in the Feb. 20, 1994, attack on Sally Mandivill and her sister, Shirley, who survived the attack.
On the night of the shootings, Valdovinos left his unit in the College View Drive apartment complex to visit the unit in which the assistant manager lived to tell her his truck had been scratched, Phillips said. There, he wound up shooting both women.
