Central Los Angeles : Bulletin Board Wins National Award
- Share via
Alicia Garcia De Leon of East Los Angeles puts together a darned good bulletin board.
Big deal? It is to the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, which recently award her a gold medal in the advertising design category of the club’s National Skills Championships, held in Kansas City, Mo.
For Garcia De Leon, 22, a full-time student at East Los Angeles Occupational Center, it was no small task. The four-square-foot board--more a work of art than a workaday object--is fashioned from cardboard, wood scraps and clay, with attachments depicting sculpted clay hands and wooden stairs.
She beat out 150 students nationwide for the honor.
