It was very enjoyable to read Richard Cromelin’s interview with Ray Davies (“A Well-Reflected Man,” July 23). Davies has never had to be a “Dedicated Follower of Fashion.” His wisdom is profound in his stories of working stiffs who can appreciate the virtues of family and community.
During the Kinks’ House of Blues shows, it was charming to see this rock icon showing the audience his brand-new tennis shoes and singing the great songs of the band’s glory days. The Kinks’ last album, “Phobia,” is one that never got the recognition it deserves and hopefully, with Davies’ new autobiography, “X-Ray,” being published in September, there will be a renewed interest in the Kinks and a new album in the wings.
