VILLA PARK : Youth League to Hold Fund-Raising Cookout

With the blessing of the City Council, the Orange-Villa Park Girls’ Softball League will host a fund-raising barbecue near the Civic Center parking lot from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The girls are raising money so that the team can compete in the Western States competition, coaches recently told a City Council meeting.

The team members formally asked the city to approve the use of the parking lot. They appeared in uniform at the council’s July 25 meeting. The City Council, after praising the team’s accomplishments during the year, unanimously approved the request.
