A man suspected of robbing an Ojai bank was arrested after someone in the bank during the robbery recognized the local man.
Lawrence D. Church, 46, of Ojai was arrested on suspicion of robbery around 9:30 p.m. Saturday near his residence on Shady Lane.
He remained in the Ventura County Jail on Sunday afternoon, with bail set at $50,000.
Church allegedly walked into the Home Savings of America on South Ventura Street at 11:26 a.m. Saturday and handed a teller a note demanding money.
Although the note said he was carrying a gun, he did not show one during the robbery, FBI officials said.
Church left the bank on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, but some of the stolen money was recovered, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.
