Boy Killed When Car Plunges 30 Feet Onto Road

An 8-year-old boy was killed in Long Beach Sunday afternoon when a car in which he was a passenger flew out of control on the southbound Long Beach Freeway and plunged 30 feet onto another roadway below.
Police said Michael Melena, the only person in the car not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle when it fell onto the northbound Long Beach Freeway near the 6th Street off-ramp.
