Three independent Los Angeles filmmakers are among 11 grantees awarded a total of $213,770 by the American Film Institute’s Independent Film and Videomaker Program.
Local recipients are Britta Sjogren, who received $19,470 for the narrative film “Claire’s Bones”; William Jones, who got $19,000 for the experimental work “Finished,” and William Moritz, who was awarded $18,000 for the animated “Quilt.”
Administered by the AFI, the grant program has been financed by the National Endowment for the Arts since 1968. The 1995 grants are the last for the program, since subsequent funding was canceled by the NEA last October.
