MISSION HILLS — A 72-year-old Canoga Park man was killed Thursday when his car, sideswiped by a hit-and-run driver, crashed into the sound wall of the Simi Valley Freeway, officials said.
The man, whose name was not released pending notification of next of kin, was driving west on the freeway about 2 p.m. when his car was hit by another, CHP Officer Richard Perez said.
The Canoga Park man’s car spun and smashed into another vehicle before skidding into the center sound wall, Perez said. The driver, who Perez said was not wearing a seat belt, was hurled into the wall. He was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
Perez said the motorist who caused the accident fled and the extent of the injuries to the driver of the third car was not known.
