SEC to Provide Access to Company Documents: The agency will provide the free access to its electronic database of corporate information through the Internet, Chairman Arthur Levitt Jr. said at an investors’ conference in Nashville, Tenn. Funding for the program had been uncertain after a pilot project ends Oct. 1. Levitt said documents posted on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis & Retrieval database will be available within 24 hours of filing.
