Long-delayed public hearings on the controversial Bixby Ranch development plan are set to begin in early October.
The proposal calls for 223 homes next to the golf course near Seal Beach Boulevard and a commercial development on about 3.5 acres at Lampson Avenue. The plan also includes a 50-acre golf course expansion and possible construction of a hotel and restaurant.
Opponents say the project would flood the city with traffic and ruin its small-town atmosphere, and that aircraft from the nearby Los Alamitos Armed Forces Reserve Center would threaten new homeowners’ safety.
