Re “Reckless Bicyclist,” letter, Aug. 24: I am a member of a bicycle club out of Long Beach (Lightning Velo). We pride ourselves on our obeying all traffic laws. We even discuss our riding style and safety at our monthly meetings.
It’s cyclists like this letter writer who give cyclists like ourselves a bad name with motorists. The laws for cyclists are there for cyclists’ safety as well as motorists. To blame the Police Department or insurance companies for his inability to obey traffic laws is ridiculous.
