PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : NFC : Dent Feels Great to Be Back With Bears

Associated Press

Defensive end Richard Dent, second on the NFL’s career sack list and the most valuable player of the 1986 Super Bowl, agreed to a one-year contract to rejoin the Chicago Bears.

“It was a tough thing to leave, but it’s great to be back,” said Dent, 34, who left the Bears after the 1993 season in a contract dispute.

The Bears think Dent can provide leadership to a young defensive line and bolster a below-average pass rush.

The Dallas Cowboys, who just agreed to pay $35 million to Deion Sanders, lost a bid to stop a former wide receiver from getting a $26,500 worker’s compensation settlement.

The Texas Supreme Court turned down an appeal from the club in a case involving Scott Randall Ankrom, whose knee was injured in a 1989 exhibition game against the Denver Broncos.
