In the Wells Invitational water polo tournament:
Golden West 4, Grossmont College 1--Jeff Hamilton’s two goals led Golden West to third place in the tournament held at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. Clay Cornhall had five saves for the Rustlers (6-1).
Golden West lost earlier to West Valley, 12-9, in the semifinals.
In the Saddleback women’s volleyball invitational:
Long Beach wins tournament--In a game that matched teams from the same pool, Long Beach dominated Fullerton, 15-5, to win the tournament. Long Beach won its pool, 3-0, and Fullerton finished second at 2-1.
Fullerton’s Katy Gaton and Michelle Halliday and Saddleback’s Keri Gallup made the all-tournament team.
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, College of the Sequoias 0--Mary Luhrs had 24 kills for visiting Golden West (2-0), which won, 16-14, 15-7, 15-11.
Earlier, the Rustlers defeated Kings River, 15-3, 15-4, 15-6.
