PANORAMA CITY — A 32-year-old Panorama City woman fatally shot her live-in boyfriend several times in the chest during an argument, then killed herself, Los Angeles police said Friday.
Jesus Gonzalez, 25, was moving out of the single-story home where he lived with Sylvia Martinez in the 8700 block of Matilija Avenue about 10:15 p.m. Thursday when the two started fighting again, LAPD Officer Dan Enriquez said.
The couple frequently quarreled during the six years they were together, Enriquez said, and neighbors reported that police had been to the house twice earlier this week.
During this argument, Martinez drew a .357 magnum pistol and shot Gonzalez several times in the chest, Enriquez said. She then shot herself.
A friend who was outside helping Gonzalez move heard the shots and called police. Paramedics arrived to find Gonzalez dead, Enriquez said. They rushed Martinez to Kaiser Permanente Panorama City, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Neighbors said the couple had two children who were not home during the shooting.
