Wall Street financier Bennett S. LeBow, former chairman of the Irvine company, has resigned as a director of MAI Systems Corp.
LeBow resigned as chief executive in April, 1993, and as chairman in May this year. He once controlled about 82% of MAI Systems through personal holdings and his control of Brooke Group Ltd., which spun off its remaining 65% interest in the company in January. The company was a high-flying computer maker in the 1980s before going into a tailspin and filing for bankruptcy protection. It emerged from Chapter 11 proceedings late in 1993.
