Los Angeles County’s $2.3-billion medical system is the second-largest health system operated by local government in the country.
Its six hospitals admit 142,842 patients and record 1.7 million outpatient visits annually.
A total of 25,240 doctors, nurses and other health services staffers remain after layoffs at the Department of Health Services.
Most of the county’s 3,205 full-time doctors are paid between $64,000 and $135,000 annually.
Most doctors work 40 hours a week for the county, with some working an additional eight hours per week to receive lucrative stipends from the four teaching hospitals affiliated with the county.
County doctors deliver 27,000 babies per year.

Canoga Park Health Center, 7107 Remmet Ave., Canoga Park
Valencia Health Center, 23763 W. Valencia Blvd., Valencia
Bell Gardens Health Center, 6912 Ajax Ave., Bell Gardens
Northeast Health Center, 2032 Marengo St., East Los Angeles
