Taitron Components Inc., the Santa Clarita-based semiconductor and transistor supplier, reported that its profits more than doubled on a 43% jump in sales for its third quarter that ended Sept. 30.
Taitron posted profits of $1.2 million in the latest quarter compared to a $552,000 profit in the same period a year earlier. Third-quarter sales rose to $9.4 million, up from $6.5 million a year earlier.
The company attributed much of its rapid growth to strong demand for discrete semiconductors. Taitron also opened its first international office in San Paulo, Brazil.
For the nine months, Taitron’s profits rose to $3 million compared to a $1.2-million profit a year earlier, while its sales climbed 55% to $26.9 million, up from $17.4 million.
