Shirley Shurtleff, a past board member of the Salvation Army, died Oct. 31 at Ojai Valley Community Hospital. She was 86.
Shurtleff, who was born Jan. 25, 1909, in Perry, Iowa, moved to Ojai 14 years ago from Acapulco, Mexico.
She was a retired contact lens technician and a member of the Ojai Valley Woman’s Club and the 663 Club. Shurtleff was also a volunteer for HELP of Ojai, a senior citizens volunteer group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Roy Shurtleff, in 1987.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeannine Cosden of Studio City; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
Memorial contributions may be made to Project Angel Food-Los Angeles.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home.
