HUNTINGTON BEACH — A 19-year-old with a knife and a young friend posing as a woman were arrested Tuesday night after a foiled robbery of a Radio Shack and a search with police dogs.
William Shayne Iles, 19, of Huntington Beach, and a 17-year-old walked into the electronics store in the 18580 block of Beach Boulevard about 7:20 p.m. The juvenile, police said, wore a long, dark wig and a tissue-stuffed bra. Iles produced a box-cutting knife, and demanded all the money in the store from the clerk, who complied.
The pair then fled into an alley, but a sergeant was patrolling and saw them as they ran into a neighboring church’s parking lot. With the help of police dogs, the juvenile was found hiding in the bushes, his wig and the bag of money nearby.
When Iles later drove up to his apartment, officers were waiting to arrest him.
Iles was booked into the Huntington Beach City Jail on suspicion of robbery. Police planned to book the youth, also of Huntington Beach, into Juvenile Hall.
