Persistent Fog Delays Planes, but Storm May Chase It Away

The ground-hugging fog plaguing Orange County in recent days could cause more problems for holiday travelers before it starts to dissipate late this weekend.
Unusually dense fog snarled air travel in Orange and Los Angeles counties Friday morning, forcing the delay of some flights and the rerouting of others.
Air traffic was halted at John Wayne Airport from 7:30 to 8:25 a.m. because of the fog, said Mitch Barker, a spokesman with the Federal Aviation Administration in Los Angeles.
Fog-related delays were also reported at Los Angeles International Airport, with 11 LAX-bound airliners rerouted to Ontario International Airport.
More heavy fog is expected along the coast early today.
But a storm system moving into the Pacific Northwest this weekend could help lift the fog in Southern California. While no rain is expected in Orange County, the front may lower temperatures slightly and cause some night and morning cloudiness.
