The future is coming to Pasadena. And it’s bringing more jobs.
EarthLink, a rapidly growing Internet provider, signed a five-year lease to move from its 12,000-square-foot building in Los Angeles to a 100,000-square-foot building in East Pasadena, said Sky Dylan Dayton, owner and founder of the business.
The company, which reports a revenue growth of at least 5% a week, is expected to bring more than 200 jobs to Pasadena when it moves in early February, city officials said.
“I started this [company] a year and a half ago with a staff of one, and now we have 200 employees,” Dayton said. “We want to double our staff in the next few months.”
The choice to relocate to Pasadena was an easy one, Dayton said. Because it is already home to Caltech and the Jet Propulsion Lab, “If there was a high-tech center in L.A., Pasadena would probably be it. The fact that we could find that much space in contiguous buildings--that was also nice.”
