GARDEN GROVE — A 33-year-old man, who allegedly beat his former girlfriend, pushed her out of her car and then stole the vehicle with her child still strapped in the car seat, was arrested after a short chase on a freeway, police said Wednesday.
A driver told police officers he saw a woman being assaulted about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 13200 block of Garden Grove Boulevard and shoved out of her parked car, Police Lt. John Woods said.
The motorist, whose name was withheld, followed the man in the car onto the Garden Grove Freeway and called 911.
A California Highway Patrol officer arrested the suspect. Garden Grove resident Gregory LaCombe was booked on suspicion of spousal abuse, making terrorist threats, grand theft auto and child stealing.
His ex-girlfriend, Toni Morre, 30, of Fullerton was treated at Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center and released. The toddler was returned to Morre, Woods said.
