JAPAN : 12th Victim of Gas Attack Dies

A man who had been in a coma since last year’s nerve gas attack on Tokyo’s subway system has died, raising the official death toll to 12. Several thousand more people were injured in the March 20, 1995, attack on five crowded Tokyo subway lines. The latest victim, 52-year-old Mitsuo Okada, died in a hospital, Tokyo police said. The leader of the Aum Supreme Truth cult, Shoko Asahara, and several cult members are being tried on murder charges in connection with the attack, involving the nerve gas sarin.
