Circus Circus Plans Expansion: Circus Circus Enterprises Inc. said it plans to spend about $1.9 billion to improve and expand its hotel and casino operations in the next four years. Chief Financial Officer Glenn Schaeffer, speaking at an Atlantic City, N.J., gaming conference, said the company expects to generate about $1.2 billion in free cash flow, or earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation, in that period and to have 20,000 hotel rooms by 2000. Asked if the company is considering an acquisition in Atlantic City, the executive called that a “possibility.” Shares fell 50 cents to $42.875 on the New York Stock Exchange. Las Vegas-based Circus Circus plans to build a $600-million, 2,000-room casino in Atlantic City.
