A 17-year-old Huntington Beach girl died early Thursday after she veered out of her lane and crashed into a traffic signal at Brookhurst Street and Adams Avenue, police said.
Coroner’s officials identified the victim as Kristina Bridges.
Bridges was driving south on Brookhurst Street across the Adams Avenue intersection when her 1988 Oldsmobile drifted up a wheelchair ramp and hit a traffic signal on the southwest corner at 12:04 a.m.
Bridges, who was wearing a seat belt, was killed on impact, said Police Lt. Luis Ochoa.
Ochoa said it is unclear why she veered, but she may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
