City to Hear Staff Choice for Trash Contractor
- Share via
The city staff will issue a report today recommending one of the companies that are bidding for the city’s trash pickup contract, to be awarded Tuesday.
Though the staff’s endorsement is not binding on the City Council, which will make the decision, “if everything we wanted is in there, I don’t know why we wouldn’t follow their recommendation,” Councilwoman Ann Van Haun said.
Several firms are competing for the contract, which will be the first awarded by the city since its incorporation six years ago.
“I have no idea whose bid won,” Van Haun said. “I’m as much in the dark as anyone.”
The city is now served by Waste Management of Orange County Inc., which is among bidders for the new contract.
