Viper Militia

The Viper militia as well as other lunatic fringe organizations have said they are preparing for a war with the United States government (July 3). At first blush I was tempted to say, “OK, they want a war, let’s give it to them.” But that would be self-defeating.
The self-styled defenders of the American way would only last a few minutes, a flash in the pan, against the armed forces of the government they despise. They would gain martyrdom and only add to the inflammatory rhetoric of others of like mind.
It would be far more fitting if they were to have an open trial, and let them broadcast their doctrine of hate. In that way, the world would be able to see the full extent of the insanity of the militia mentality. It may also be possible to determine a fitting end to the ravings of these nuts, flakes and misfits.
