Chinese Airlines Buy 20 Jetliners from McDonnell Douglas: Eleven of the twin-engine MD-90s will go to China Northern Airlines and nine will go to China Eastern Airlines as part of a $1.6-billion agreement originally announced in 1994. The sale of the planes, which are built in Long Beach--became final last week and the first jetliner will be delivered by Aug. 1. Under the 1994 agreement, an additional 20 jetliners will be assembled in China.
