Man Dies After Van Crashes Into Tree

A 29-year-old Oxnard man died in surgery after being injured in a traffic accident in Ventura.
Ronald Carmona died after the van he was driving crashed into a tree about 2 a.m. Thursday at Telephone Road just west of Portola Road, a Ventura Police Department spokesman said. Ventura firefighters had to cut Carmona loose from the vehicle.
Carmona was taken to Ventura County Medical Center and died about 8:30 p.m. in surgery, a Ventura County coroner spokesman said. He is survived by his wife, Tammy, a child and his parents, the spokesman said.
