Nazis’ Hatred Was Not Limited to Jews

“A Lesson in Madness” (July 21) contains a limited point of view regarding what is taking place and should be taking place in teaching about the Holocaust.
To say that “6 million Jews and an estimated 5 million others” were murdered by the Nazis is to ignore the tragedy of many ethnic groups and categories of people including intellectuals, homosexuals and the mentally disabled. The Nazis had a special hatred for Jews, but their hatred was not limited to Jews. American public schools should teach the history of all students irrespective of their race, creed or ethnicity.
Since your article did not include the opinions, research and suggestions of non-Jewish educators, it gives the impression that the only valid resources for the teaching of the Holocaust are Jewish.
