Czech Jan Zelezny, the first man to successfully defend a men’s Olympic javelin title in more than 70 years, will have a tryout with the Atlanta Braves next Wednesday.
“I am looking forward to it,” he said. “I like trying something new. Am I serious? Why not? I would like to know what I can do.”
Britain’s Steve Backley, who won the silver, is backing him. Javelin throwing without Zelezny would make life easier for the Briton.
“I hope he makes it,” Backley said.
