First American Acquires Michigan Insurer

SANTA ANA — First American Financial Corp. said Tuesday that its First American Title Insurance Co. subsidiary has acquired the assets of a small Michigan title insurer, Superior Abstract & Title Co. Inc., for an undisclosed combination of cash and notes.

Purchase of the three-office company gives First American “a significant presence in the third largest market in Michigan,” said Parker S. Kennedy, president of Santa Ana-based First American Financial, one of the country’s largest title insurers and real estate information services.
