The Wooden Award, named in honor of the legendary UCLA coach and serving as college basketball’s equivalent to football’s Heisman Trophy, will operate under new sponsorship next year.
Richard “Duke” Llewellyn of the host Los Angeles Athletic Club announced Tuesday the signing of a five-year contract with Newport Beach-based Urohealth Systems, a designer and manufacturer of medical products.
Charles Laverty, president and CEO of Urohealth, said, “We are proud to become affiliated with the L.A. Athletic Club and John Wooden, whom I consider to be the greatest college basketball coach of all time.”
