County Sued Over Slaying at Courthouse

The parents of a woman who was shot to death outside a Los Angeles courtroom have sued the county, alleging that inadequate security contributed to her death.
Eileen Zelig, 40, of Chatsworth was shot Sept. 1 after a Superior Court hearing related to her divorce. Unlike the county’s Criminal Courts Building, the civil courthouse on Hill Street had no metal detectors.
Zelig’s ex-husband, Harry Zelig, 48, a physician, faces trial for murder Oct. 21.
The wrongful-death action was filed by Eileen Zelig’s parents on behalf of the Zeligs’ three children.
