Adult School

Re “Learning the Language of Citizenship,” Aug. 3: I am a student who attends the Long Beach School for Adults, which not only accommodates students like myself (who are seeking to achieve their high school diplomas) but also offers ESL, citizenship classes, the citizenship test, GAIN and Job Search (for mothers and fathers who are on AFDC/welfare). As if that was not enough, in the fall the Head Start program will also be starting on our campus so the children of the students will be provided with an education as well.

As an adult who was given a second chance to pursue my education, I have seen the importance of an education, as do the immigrants who come here seeking a better way of life.
