Police are investigating an accident involving a motorcycle and a sport-utility vehicle Saturday night that left a couple in the hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.
The accident occurred on Los Angeles Avenue at Erringer Road about 9:30 p.m., when a man driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet Blazer, Simi Valley Police Officer Jeff Dominick said.
Police said Brian Cordera of Simi Valley was riding his motorcycle east on Los Angeles Avenue with his wife, Kelly West, aboard, when the couple entered the intersection and collided with the Blazer being driven by Salvador Murrillo Jr. of Simi Valley.
Murillo apparently was trying to turn left from the westbound side of Los Angeles Avenue onto Erringer Road when the collision occurred, Dominick said.
Cordera suffered head injuries, a broken jaw and a torn abdomen, while West suffered broken ribs, a fractured pelvis and a broken arm. Both were taken to Simi Valley Hospital.
On Sunday, both Cordera and West were still in the hospital’s intensive care unit. Cordera was listed in critical condition, and West was in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Murillo suffered small cuts to his right leg and required no hospital treatment.
