A woman suspected of being a burglar was hospitalized in critical condition late Wednesday after being shot by the occupant of a house who caught her in his garage, authorities said.
Neither the unidentified occupant of the house nor anyone else was harmed in the shooting, said Sgt. Matt Blake of the LAPD’s Foothill Division.
He said the shooting remained under investigation.
The shooting occurred at about 10:50 p.m., when the resident confronted the alleged burglar in the garage of his home in the 13700 block of Herrick Avenue near Roxford Street, said Bob Collis, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The woman was shot in the torso and taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, where she remained in critical condition Thursday, Collis said.
